Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Mariners are working on a trade that will send Mike Sweeney to the Phillies.
Sweeney can play first base in Philadelphia while Ryan Howard nurses a badly sprained left ankle. The 37-year-old veteran is batting just .263 with an .802 OPS for the Mainers this season, but he'll provide a bit more production than Miguel Cairo, who has been drawing starts at first in Philly.
